Animal sanctuaries play a vital role in caring for animals victimised by humans.  You can help with a regular donation, by volunteering or supporting their events.

Note: Please check before planning a visit – some of these sanctuaries are only open to the public for specific events.

Beneath the Wood Sanctuary – Wales
0.0

Description:

We are Beneath the wood rescue sanctuary. We are a small sanctuary based in Wales. We have provided permanent sanctuary space for dogs with behaviour issues, sheep, cats and horses.

Our resident dogs are not able to be homed or would be difficult to home due to behaviour issues. They have come to us from other rescues or from vets. Our cats and farm animals have come from local farmers or people in the local community. We only have limited space, but we do what we can with what we have. Most of the animals that come to us will stay here for life as a safe haven.

We work with the animals in a positive way to help them overcome any problems. Helping to build their confidence so they can enjoy life!

We also spend time campaigning for a cruelty free world. We are a strictly no kill sanctuary.

We promote cruelty free choices

We believe in compassion, life & empowerment – all factors that contribute to a sustainable, healthy & cruelty free planet.

By providing information on the use of animals in factory farming, intensive breeding & cruel sports we seek to enable cruelty free choices and wider awareness.

What we buy and the way we live has a direct impact on human & animal welfare.

With information and wide access to cruelty free products, we all have the ability to make informed choices; choices which will improve health, prevent cruelty and protect the environment.

Friend Farm Animal Sanctuary
0.0

Description:

FRIEND is a farm animal sanctuary in Kent with nearly 200 animals. They find their way here through being unwanted, abused, neglected or abandoned. The sanctuary offers a free roaming (as far as possible and safe) home to chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, cows, goats, sheep and one alpaca who thinks he’s a sheep, on a 10 acre site nestled in between the orchards and hop farms of rural Kent. The 35+ pigs live in their own paddock with wallows.

We rely solely on donations from members of the public.

Financial donations are spent on food, bedding, essential equipment and veterinary bills. We are a no kill sanctuary, we re-home a small amount of companion animals but most of the animals that live here stay with us until the day they die.

The Sanctuary is looking to target 4 key areas;

1. To provide love, care & shelter to animals who have escaped slaughter, who have been made homeless, who have been injured, or who have been abused and/or abandoned.
2. To find permanent homes for homeless, abandoned, abused and mistreated animals and to always promote adoption through education and example.
3. To promote compassion, love, respect and understanding for all animals through interaction and education. This will be accomplished through physically visiting the animals at the sanctuary, or virtually via the internet
